One of the biggest hurdles I see new mompreneurs face when setting up a paper products business while at home is deciding what to actually sell. With endless possibilities, gift tags, art prints, stickers, notepads, planners, paano mo malalaman kung ano ang bebenta? The secret to ensuring na kaya mong kumita habang nasa bahay is identifying your Market Niche.
Ano ba ang Market Niche?
A market niche is a specific, well-defined segment of your audience. Imbes na magbenta ka sa "lahat ng tao" (which usually means hindi ka mapapansin), you focus on a highly specific group with specific needs.
Let me share my journey. When I started, I focused strictly on learning materials and activity books for kids. My niche was clear: homeschooling parents and educators looking for engaging materials. Dahil specific ang target ko, mabilis nakilala ang Graceful Homeschooling sa community na iyon. Now that the brand is established, we are successfully branching out into premium hardbound journals for moms.
How to Find Your Niche
Ask yourself these questions to discover your ideal market:
- Who do I want to help? (e.g., Working professionals, brides-to-be, students, moms)
- What problem am I solving? (e.g., Budgeting, wedding planning, meal prepping)
- What format suits them best? (e.g., Laminated flashcards, wire-bound planners, waterproof stickers)
If you love organizing finances, create budget trackers for married couples. If you love art, create custom waterproof stickers for laptop users. Once you know exactly who you are serving, product creation becomes so much easier and your marketing becomes incredibly effective.
How to Know If Your Niche Is Right
Try this before you commit to a big inventory: make just ten pieces and post them on your Facebook page or in local groups. If someone asks for the price on day one, you have a market. Kapag tahimik? Do not be discouraged. Change the design or the target audience, hindi ang buong pangarap. It is much cheaper to learn from ten pieces than from a hundred pieces nakatambak sa bahay.
